7th April is celebrated globally under the auspices of World Health Organisation (WHO) as a World Health Day (WHD). This year the day also marks the 75th anniversary of WHO. Last 75 years have been transformative for global public health. Huge advances in science and societies have been made around the world in terms of improving human health. Though many milestones have been achieved but the destination of health equity is still quite far. Today is the day to reread the constitution of WHO which is as valid as it was in 1948. What does this all mean to us in Pakistan? We stand bereft of essential health care for all. We have failed to prioritise health of the people of Pakistan. We are the last barrier in the way of polio free world – and the list of our dubious distinctions goes on and on. This WHD should make us introspect and resolve for health for all by pursuing UHC through strengthening primary health care
